The Offering
A shower of rose petals drifted to the altar. Corie stood
back, examining her handiwork. Perfect. The breeze through the window fluttered
across her warm skin, cooling her every nerve. Quick footsteps made their way
to the room. Without hesitation. Corie climbed up and lay waiting, hoping she
would be a fitting offering to the one she adored from afar. With shaking
hands, she smoothed down her blonde hair, letting it tumble over the edge. Taking
one last deep breath, Corie stared at the door. The footsteps stopped. The
brass door handle twisted and the oak door opened slowly.
