When is a name not a name?

When is a name not a name? Never ever if it's assumed.
Confused? Read on.

More people than we probably imagine use an assumed name. I do for my writing. Not because I'm ashamed of who I am or what I write (I'm not) but because as I put my Raven McAllan 'hat' on, I become Raven, and I write. Take if off and I have to vacuum and iron.

Deborah wears another hat as well. How else can she get through each day, and do what she has to do?

And Oliver? His life is one succession of hats until he meets Deborah…

Here is the Blurb…

Deborah may not know the full truth of her childhood, but she knows she needs to find her soul.
During one of her performances at Silk Street, she attracts the attention of Oliver, Lord Craster. Known for his extreme tastes, he sensed a kindred soul in Deborah.
Persuading her that their needs mesh proves a challenge, even to a man of his experience. Will Oliver be the man she needs to unlock her secrets? Or will his dominance scare her too much to even try?
Are the nightmares simply too strong?
How about a look at the cover?

 Rather Yummy isn't it?

So here is an excerpt...

She lifted one long tapering candle from its place in the candelabrum, and let the wax trickle slowly down the sides.
She handed it to Oliver who took it with a flourish. He would have been well coached on his duties by a watchful Luc who stood close by. As the first drop slid lower inch by inch, to be followed by more, her breath quickened. Images of those globules beaded on her flesh, of the delicate cobweb tracery they could create, made her breathing choppy and her pulse jump.
To her amazement, the usual sick feeling in her stomach wasn't there. By now it would be normal for her head to pound, and her skin to be clammy. Instead her body prickled with something akin to excitement, and the muscles in her quim pulsed. Her juices gathered in the apex of her thighs, and she forced herself not to push them together to try and relieve the delicious tension inside.
Oliver's grin showed her he had noticed, and Deborah gritted her teeth. Damn him, he is too all-seeing.
"Do it," she said softly. "Do as Luc has instructed you. Let us finish this performance."
"This is for them." He waved the candle in the direction of the silent crowd. Faces appeared and disappeared as the flickering light crossed them. "Later it will be for us."
What? Her cunt contracted and for the second time in minutes. She felt the long forgotten gush of arousal fill her channel.
"Concentrate." Luc must have realized her attention had wavered, and brought it back. "Five minutes, that's all. Then we are gone."
He was right. Deborah walked to the angled bench placed at the front of the stage and stretched out. Her body was tilted to enable the audience to see everything. Behind her Oliver stood, the candle in his hand. Next to him, the ever-vigilant Luc waited.
She nodded. "Ready." As Luc spoke to the audience, explaining the rest of the act, she turned her mind inwards, slowed her breathing, and took herself to a place where what was about to happen wouldn't register. It was the only way she could cope.
"Later, I will show you how arousing it can be to experience the soft path of the wax caressing your body. Bring the sting of pain and change it to the sharp shard of pleasure. Now, I do as I am asked."
****
Oliver speculated what was going through her mind as she lay on the bench, her body stretched and her face devoid of expression.
"Do it," Luc said. "For the love of God and De…her, do it now. Do not make her wait. That is cruel."
He was not a cruel man. Even as he wondered what Luc had been going to say, when he had stopped mid-word, Oliver held the candle high and watched. As if in slow motion the tiny tears of wax dripped and hit her skin. To him it was a caress, a bite of pain, which would morph into a swell of pleasure, and a hint of things to come. A gift he could give her. If he thought they had the chance.
"Another." Luc was insistent. "As we discussed. Now. While she is within herself."
His phrasing intrigued Oliver. Nevertheless, he tipped the taper once more, and created the patterns they had agreed upon. By now his peers were cheering, the sight of her soft flesh covered in the ribbons of cooling wax a turn on to all those there. Even if it was not their own preference, each could appreciate how something so misunderstood, and called deviant by many, was so necessary to others.
In one way it seemed an aeon before Luc indicated he was done. In another scant seconds. He handed the stub of the candle to Luc and took his bow, before he turned to the woman still supine in front of him. With what the watchers would see as theatrical, he bent his head. To all intents and purposed he was offering a soft kiss to her neck. In reality he moved and nipped her earlobe. "It is over. Come, make your bow and let us take you out of here."

About Island Bound:
Island Bound is a sensual, contemporary romance novella, set in Brass Island, Nigeria. It’s the story of Christy and Joshua who are on the verge of a marriage breakdown and how they get their second chance at a life together. Out 16 January, 2013 published by Decadent Publishing for their new African Ubuntu line.

Blurb:
Marriage has stripped their relationship of its thin, rose-tinted coating, and bared their monochromatic existence for what it was. Will Joshua and Christy get a second chance this holiday season?
When Christy Inemi-Spiff discovers that the man she vowed to love and honor has no such feelings for her, she’s determined to cut her losses and move on with her life. A quick, quiet divorce is all she wishes for Christmas.
However, Joshua has other ideas. He’s not ready to walk away yet, especially when he doesn’t understand why Christy wants out of their marriage. So he demands she agree to spend a quiet Christmas on a remote African Island with him, hoping they can salvage their relationship. If she still wants a divorce after these two weeks, he will let her go. But not before he’s had his fill of her.
But with the sparking tension between them, and the secrets behind the disintegration of their marriage threatening to explode, will either of them get their wish? Or will this season of good will show them what really lies at the bottom of their hearts?

 Excerpt:

“Why are you doing this?” she challenged. Her emotions rolled, making her feel unbalanced. It had been a long three months. And it seemed like today was only going to get worse.
“Christy, you know the reason. If you stopped long enough and thought about it hard, in your heart, you’ll know.”
“You can stop this.” She struggled to contain her anger. “You started this; you can end it.”
“I know, but I won’t.”
“You, you—” Enraged, she lifted a hand to slap him.
Joshua caught her hand midair, held it tight. Before she could react, he pushed her back against the wall, pinning her to it with his rigid body. Christy felt every bit of him, his strength, and his physical nature that he never bothered to hide.
“I think I have the perfect answer for all your bottled-up rage,” he said as he parted her thighs with his leg.
“Move,” she ordered, her throat dry and croaky, betraying her increasing apprehension.
Joshua had it easy. He was a man at home with his masculinity. She had never been able to resist him. He could have any woman he wanted. Sometimes, she wondered if he had, especially during their separation. She shouldn’t care if he’d been with anyone else. After all, her goal was a divorce. Still, she couldn’t suppress the intensity of her feelings. Perhaps her anger and hatred drove the concentration of her emotions.
“We have to get a few things sorted out first,” he replied.
He moved closer, his body flush against hers; his chest crushed her breasts, his thighs pressed against hers. Though she wore cotton trousers and a tank top, all of him stroked her.
“What are you doing?” she asked as she pushed against him.
He didn’t budge. “Just trying to relieve some of your frustration. That’s what all your aggression has been about, isn’t it?”
“Rubbish!”
“Such vehement denial, when the evidence is so obvious.”
Her face stung with revealing heat as warm blood rose in her body. Mortified, she tried to move to shake him off, but only managed to get her body even more entangled with his.
Her breathing came in short snatches. She became more aware of Joshua, his hardness and heat.
“I hate you.” Her voice sounded strangled. Blistering white rage swept through her.
“You lie, sweetheart.”
He lowered his head, trailing his lips against her cheeks in a tormenting caress.
“You love me.”

#SexySnippets from The Nuthouse Scribblers.

Welcome to Sexy Snippets from The Nuthouse Scribblers.
This week my 7 sentences comes from our anthology The Eclipse of The Blood Moon, published by Evernight Publishers.

My story is called Gypsy Butterfly and here is a little taste...

The sight was mesmerizing. Strong, long legs led to a tight ass. His waist was small but then broadened upwards to wide shoulders. As he scrubbed his head, his back muscles tightened and relaxed with the movement of his muscular arms. She stopped, just drinking in the sight. Then he turned, and she gasped. Nali covered her mouth to avoid him hearing her there.

Book Spotlight on Stand and Deliver: Tales of the Highwayman by Marie Medina.

In the spotlight today is a great new book by Marie Medina called Stand and Deliver: Tales of the Highwaymen.

Well how do I describe this book...hmm how about ...think of those dark and mysterious Highwaymen, waiting in the shadows to take whatever they want from those passing by. In those traditional tales we see women falling at their feet, objecting to the high handed treatment they are getting but secretly wanting a kiss and to be ravaged.

Do you get the picture?
Marie's book is even better, with a sexy Highwayman who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, only this time Eloise might not be the damsel in distress!

Read the Blurb...

Eloise thought being whisked to another dimension by a handsome man would be a fantasy come true, but the gorgeous nobleman in question can’t even make her come. As she tries to figure out how to free herself of him, she begins to notice a masked man following her wherever she goes.

In this world of lords and ladies, should she be afraid when this dashing highwayman rides up and demands that she be delivered into his arms? Her brain tells her to be wary, but her body tells her that the ultimate fantasy might be within reach after all…

The cover is superb - look....

Ready for a tasty bite?

Adam watched Eloise closely. They were in one of the bedrooms of the abandoned Trancy manor, which served as Gerard’s home and headquarters. He had tied her, very loosely, to a chair with silk scarves. She’d made no effort to free herself. The looks she’d given him and the heaving of her breasts told him she was aroused, but he could tell she was embarrassed by it and trying to fight it.
“You aren’t screaming or trying to run away, my lady. I believe you’ve been looking forward to this meeting.”
She searched his eyes. “You’re no ordinary highwayman. I know your voice. You must have been at one of Theodore’s parties.”
Though he was glad she at least knew his voice, it bruised his ego a bit she couldn’t properly place it. “You’re right. I have only been a highwayman for a month. And there is only one treasure I have wanted to steal.”
Her eyes widened. “Really?”
He walked over to her and caressed her cheek, enjoying the feel of her trembling. “Yes.”
“There are easier ways to attract a lady’s attention.”
He went down on one knee and cupped her cheek more fully. “Like this?” He captured her lips, taking advantage of her gasp to fully ravish her mouth. She stiffened, but he held fast, and soon she melted in the embrace. She was breathless when he let her go.
The game he was now playing seemed to arouse her even more. “I believe I have your attention now.” He dipped his head down to kiss her neck. Then lower. He tightened his grip on her shoulder as his lips neared her breasts. Her heart pounded in her chest as his lips caressed the tops of the soft mounds. “Are you frightened, my lady?”
“That is a trick question.”
He looked up at her. “Is it?”
“You’re very good at seduction, but you’re also a kidnapper.” She took a labored breath. “And I’m a goddamned fool for not wanting you to stop.”
He laughed, though he could see in her eyes that she was a little afraid, despite her body’s reaction to him. “Perhaps, Eloise, your heart knows you shouldn't fear me. Don’t be angry at my little deception.” He untied his mask and let it slip from his face.

Sounds good doesn't it. Well the good news is there are TWO more books in the series so if one taste is not enough then you will be able to go back for more! I guarantee you will!

Welcome to Kayla Jameth!

Today I welcome Kayla Jameth who is one of the fantastic authors at Breathless Press. Her newest release is part of the Naughty Nursery Rhymes and is called From The Ashes. The cover is rather sexy!

I told you it was sexy!
Here is the blurb.

Cinder never thought that he could rise from the ashes of his life, but an unexpected encounter with a woman claiming to be his fairy godmother may be just what he needs. Finding himself flung into his very own fairy tale, she sends him off to meet his Prince Charming. But was the gown really necessary?

Ready for a bite?

Cinder glanced around. Paper lanterns floated in the trees, lined the walks, and graced the gazebo near the reflecting pool, giving the grounds a mystical air. Their warm glow caught the dancing jets of the fountain splashing merrily to his right. The musical, crystalline tones carried on the night wind’s breath. He was reminded of the enchanted gardens in the fairy tales his father had read to him when he was a child. What would happen to him if he dared walk there?
Henri led him toward the gazebo. Soon he would find out.
The cool breeze caressed his uncovered neck. Cinder shivered at the ethereal touch. Henri turned to him, the question clear in his eyes, but he didn’t know how to answer. Instead he breathed in the tangible scent of rich earth and flowing water, hoping to calm his bounding heart.
Henri lightly stroked his arm. Cinder’s breath caught at the silky brush of the other man’s fingers. He drew another shaky breath. Henri may have meant to soothe him; instead his touch set Cinder’s wayward body aflame.
They left the last of the courtiers behind as they entered the dim interior of the fanciful pavilion. Vines climbed its intricately carved posts, perfuming the air within. The music and voices of the aristocrats faded away. Only a single intrepid nightingale could be heard over the cheerful burbling of the fountain. Hidden from the rest of the court, an unworldly sense of peace filled him. Was his very own fairy tale about to come true?
Bespelled and bemused, he could feel the magic in every beat of his heart, in every trembling breath he drew.
Once inside the bower, Henri reached to cup Cinder's cheek. Unused to being touched, he nearly flinched away but managed to still, heart pounding, before giving himself away. The older man's thumb slid across his cheekbone and came to rest lightly on his mouth. Why did he want to lean into that caress?
The other man's warm, slightly musky scent filled his nostrils, drowning his senses.
Henri's other hand wrapped around his waist and drew him close. He leaned closer while tipping Cinder's face upwards. Cinder's breath left him in a rush, stirring the noble’s hair. Henri was all that he could see, his mouth slowly, carefully descending toward Cinder’s. If he allowed this, the other man might discover his deception. He couldn’t risk that, so why then did he ache to feel Henri’s kiss? Their lips brushed, light as thistle down.
Surprisingly, Henri's mouth was soft and warm upon his own. After a moment, it pressed more firmly against his. Something fluttered in his chest, trying to get out.
Cinder didn't think to pull away until he felt Henri's tongue seeking entrance. The hand on his face slipped to his nape and held firm. He froze in shock, not even daring to breathe, as flames rushed through his body. The very beat of his heart betrayed him.
The questing tongue stroked his lips and pushed between them. It slid over his teeth, seeking to enter. When he protested, Henri swept in and began a lazy, sensuous exploration that left him breathless.
Soon he found himself returning the caress. Henri responded to his fledgling attempts by pulling him closer and moaning into his mouth. He had never experienced anything so sensual and erotic. He fed his own needy pleas to the other man one at a time.
Finally they separated slightly, Cinder panting heavily, trying to catch his breath. Was Henri as affected by their kiss as he was? A quick glance confirmed Cinder was not alone in his arousal. Flushed and gasping, Henri gazed at him with eyes full of wonder and something unnamed smoldering in their depths.

#SexySnippets from The Nuthouse Scribblers

Welcome to the first #SexySnippets, part of the many things The Nuthouse Scribblers have in store for you this year.

This is a new experience for me so here are my seven sentences. They come from our first self publishing venture called Wine and Nine.

This is from Shona's story.

Malky followed, his large frame towering over her. He pulled the tie loose and moved his hand to her naked breast. Shona's breath quickened, she didn't know what to do. His hand was surprisingly warm against her cold skin as he stroked her breast, then flicked her nipple with his fingers. A groan escaped her lips as she delighted in his touch. It had been so long since a man had touched her, and she realized how needy she really was. She looked into his dark eyes and moisture gathered in her pussy.

So what do you think? Has that whetted your appetite?

Here is the blurb.

Magic Mac and his Mystery tours, the brochure said. What it didn't tell the participants of this coach trip is that the quaint Scottish Inn they stopped at held a secret.
When you add women, wine, and men the outcome is never certain. Will it be happy ever after or is this just the beginning?
Find out in these nine scorching erotic short stories, guaranteed to raise a kilt or two.

Well why not check the book out. It is available from Amazon right now.

#NewClassicReads Blog Hop 2013!

Welcome to the Classic Reads Blog Hop!
Firstly I am delighted to be part of this Classic Reads blog hop sponsored by Terri Giuliano Long, Rachel Thompson, Molly Greene and Christine Nolfi.
I LOVE all sorts of books so this was a chance for me to get to know a host of new books.
The question that come to mind is What Makes A Classic Read?
I cannot say I have the answer to the question but I have my answer at the moment.
I suppose for me I fell in love with Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird as a teenager. It was one of the set books that I had to study and I had never read it before. What drew me into the world Harper describes was not only the description, but rich language, the viewpoint of the child and the character's who highlighted different aspects of humanity. The issues of how we treat people who are different to us struck home and has stayed with me. The book encompasses themes of prejudice, interracial relationships, stereotyping and discrimination all through the eyes of a child.

I am delighted that my children have it as a set book so I have been able to revisit this with them too. Each time I reread it I discover something new, something fresh that really makes me think!

Here is a flavour of the sponsors books. I am sure you will agree there is something for everyone!

As Leah’s conflicted emotions take their toll on those she loves—turning them against each other and pushing them to destructive extremes—In Leah’s Wake powerfully explores one of fiction’s most enduring themes: the struggle of teenagers coming of age, and coming to terms with the overwhelming feelings that rule them and the demanding world that challenges them. Terri Giuliano Long’s skillfully styled and insightfully informed debut novel captures the intensely personal tragedies, victories, and revelations each new generation faces during those tumultuous transitional years.
